CQ Airport Operations Returning to Normal after Cyclone Yasi


Airlines are resuming services, and local aircraft are returning home to Central and North Queensland, after the region's airports escaped serious damange from Cyclone Yasi.

On Thursday 3 February, QantasLink, Jetstar and Virgin Blue resumed services to and from Mackay Airport, while services resumed on Friday 4 February to and from Cairns, Townsville, Hamilton Island and Proserpine Airports.

Jetstar also announced that it will continue to allow customers to change flights or obtain refunds for travel to the affected areas until next Thursday, but says revised travel must be completed by April 5.

Qantas and QantasLink is also resuming services, and will also provide Emergency Management Queensland with up to 1500 seats, as well as transportation of freight, into the cyclone affected areas over the next few days.
