A Couple of Incidents at Central Queensland Airports

On Sunday 22 May, Jetstar Airways Airbus A320-200 VH-JQX operating as JQ890 from Brisbane to Mackay was reportedly seconds from landing short of Mackay's Runway 14 and onto Bridge Road. Media reports featured passengers who reported the plane was coming into land and then turned upward sharply. They could see Bridge Road straight underneath the aircraft.

Meanwhile, it was reported that a local pilot escaped injury when his Sirius LT ultralight aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Emerald Airport on Tuesday 31 May. Reports suggest that the aircraft's nosewheel had collapsed on landing at the airport. Emergency services were called to attend, but were not needed.
