A Busy Day at Emerald Airport Monday

From information courtesy of Lloyd F in Brisbane... There were no less than six Fly-In Fly-Out charter flights between Brisbane and Emerald Airport on Monday 4 July.

Alliance Airlines flew Fokker F-100s VH-FWH (as UTY2280/2281) and VH-XWT (as UTY1020/1021).

Pel Air (Regional Express - REX) flew SAAB 340A VH-EKD in twice.

Skytrans are flying their usual Clermont FIFO charters into Emerald Airport while Clermont Aerodrome is undergoing redevelopment. Dash-8-100s VH-QQL and VH-QQK were noted flying this evening as SKP868 and SKP870 respectively.

It should also be remembered that these FIFO flights come on top of the 5-6 daily QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 RPT flights that also fly between Brisbane and Emerald Airport, as well as other corporate and charter traffic that pops into Emerald Airport from smaller towns nearby.

This sudden increase in traffic through Emerald Airport has prompted some people to start pushing for a further expansion of the Airport on top the expansion completed this year.
