Military Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011 - Wednesday and Thursday at Rockhampton Airport

Yet another quiet couple of days for interesting movements at Rockhampton Airport as Exercise Talisman Sabre continues.

On Wednesday 13 July, several helicopter sorties were flown, while United States Marine Corps (USMC) Lockheed KC-130J, 167983 (Tail Code QD-983) of the VMGR-152 Unit paid another quick visit.

Locals also spotted a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing B737-7ES (BBJ) AWACS "Wedgetail" aircraft performing a missed-approach onto Runway 15. The aircraft was noted using the callsign "Wedgetail 05" making the serial of the aircraft A30-005.

There were reports that a Wedgetail was on the ground at the airport as well.

On Thursday 14 July, there were yet again numerous helicopter sorties to Shoalwater Bay.

Two Royal Australian Navy (RAN) helicopter arrivals did make the day a little more interesting.

Firstly, RAN Westland Sea King Mk.50A - serial N16-239 - Code '21' was noted alongside sisterships N16-125 (Code '10') and N16-118 (Code '07').

Later, RAN Sikorsky S-70B/SH-60 Seahawk N24-009 arrived and departed as "Tiger 78".
