REMINDER - Virgin Australia to Start Flying to Gladstone Airport on Monday

A reminder that Virgin Australia is set to make the move into Gladstone Airport and start operations between Brisbane and Gladstone this coming Monday 17 October.

The first ever DJ1711 flight is scheduled to touch down at Gladstone Airport on Monday at 11:50am. Flights will then operate in Gladstone Airport each weekday at 7:35am and then at 5:00pm.

Virgin Australia will operate their new ATR 72-500 regional aircraft on the new service, under its regional alliance with Skywest Airlines. They have currently taken delivery of two aircraft - VH-FVH and VH-FVI - and have spent the last few months undertaking a comprehensive training and route proving program.

A Virgin Australia spokesperson said the introduction of the new service to Gladstone reflected the airline's commitment to the expansion of its regional network.

Virgin Australia will also commence flights with the new 68-seat ATRs, between Brisbane and Port Macquarie, and between Sydney and Canberra.

Virgin Australia has also recently announced the introduction of services between Emerald and Brisbane.
