Qantas Boeing B747-400 VH-OJD Lights up a Dreary Day for Rockhampton Airport Spotters on Friday

The visit by Qantas Airways Boeing B747-400 VH-OJD was the highlight of a dreary day at Rockhampton Airport on Friday 25 May.

The jumbo touched down at Rockhampton as QF6160 after ferrying up from Sydney. After its passengers boarded, VH-OJD then departed for Darwin as QF1350.

Earlier in the day, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III A41-209 also departed for Darwin, but as "Stallion 59". As the photos below show, the diehard (or silly) plane spotters braved the rain to take these fantastic photos!

Alliance Airlines Fokker F-100 VH-FWH was noted several times at Rockhampton operating for QantasLink.

While another Alliance Airlines F-100 - VH-XWM - was noted operating the morning service from and back to Brisbane for Virgin Australia Airlines.

QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOD was spotted, and is pictured below with vortices coming from its prop blades.

QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXQ made a surprise visit, and seemingly flew Brisbane-Mackay-Rockhampton-Brisbane.

Also noted at Rockhampton Airport on Friday 25 May was Raytheon (Beech) G36 of Wolff Aviation in Toowoomba. This aircraft is a frequent visitor to Central Queensland Airports.

Also spotted was Cessna 206 VH-PGJ, which is usually based at Mackay Airport operating transfer flights to the nearby islands. VH-PGJ features stickers promoting Keswick Island.

Thanks guys! Hope it clears for the Old Station Fly-in on Saturday 26 May!
