Changes at Emerald Airport - More Parking - New Rental Car Parking - More Apron and Aircraft Parking Bays and Facilities

A few visits to Emerald Airport in recent weeks has revealed some much needed changes to car parking, as well as the commencement of yet more expansion.

Car parking has hopefully become a lot easier for travellers as the 'old' rental car area has now been converted and incorporated into the existing public carpark.  This provides a lot more carparks for the public, and I'm sure that these will be heavily utilised each Friday and Saturday!  There is also a new entrance to this carpark as shown below.

Parking charges remain the same, with the first hour of parking being free.

The rental car parking is now in a 'lot' that was once a spare space that was used for temporary car parking, near the Northern end of the Airport.  This is a fair hike from the Airport terminal, but it does seem that the rental car companies are able to park more cars in this area, thus offering their customer a lot more options.

Meanwhile, works have started to expand (yet again!) the Emerald Airport aircraft parking facilities.  These works will expand the aircraft parking facilities further to the West, with four additional parking bays being constructed on an expanded apron.  These additional parking facilities are expected to be mostly utilised by the growing fly-in fly-out (FIFO) market into Emerald Airport.

Aircraft spotting areas will be unaffected by all the works, and may even be enhanced, with more FIFO traffic expected in the years to come!
