An Update on Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) Charters at Moranbah Airport

It appears that the Virgin Australia (Skywest Airlines) ATR 72-operated Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) charter flights between Townsville and Moranbah that started about a year ago have ceased.  I've noticed over the last couple of weeks that QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 aircraft have been operating additional flights to Moranbah from Townsville in a similar pattern to the Virgin flights.  A Dash-8-Q400 arrives and departs one evening as QLK2591/2592 and again the next morning as QLK2589/2590.

But any Moranbah-based plane spotters and enthusiasts are about to see a whole lot more of the Virgin ATR aircraft with scheduled services to Moranbah from Brisbane starting next week.

The first service is scheduled to touch down at Moranbah on Tuesday 2 April at 7.45am.  See you there!
