A Quick Revisit to Calibre Aviation Helicopters in Emerald

Calibre Aviation is an aviation company based in Emerald. The company has been born out of Webb Helicopters and its parent company Central (Queensland) Aviation. The original company was founded in Emerald in 1984 by director Eric Webb, and offers more than 30 years experience in the Helicopter Industry.

Calibre Aviation specialises in helicopter and fixed wing services including charter flights and airwork, throughout the Central Highlands and Bowen Basin mining areas, as well as many other parts of Australia. They also offer scenic flights over Emerald and outback Queensland, with local flights from 15 minutes to 1 hour in duration, taking in some spectacular sights in the Central Highlands.

We last visited the Calibre Aviation facilities in 2011, so thought it about time we popped in again to check out some of the helicopters that Calibre had on site.  First thing I noticed was Calibre had invested in new hangar facilities.  Inside this new hangar I found a pair of their Robinson R-44 helicopters - VH-EWO and VH-HSF.

Elsewhere I captured a couple of their smaller Robinson R-22 choppers - VH-LPU receiving some attention in the main hangar and VH-RKC parked in a nearby shed.

We sincerely thank Calibre Aviation for allowing CQ Plane Spotting to have a look through their hangars and facilities on the Gregory Highway, South of Emerald.
