Fog Causes Flight Delays and Diversions at Emerald Airport Friday Morning

I woke up in Clermont to find a thick blanket of fog had rolled in early on Friday 17 May, and down the road at Emerald Airport this fog caused some flight delays and diversions of some early morning flights to the mining city.

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines ATR 72-600 VH-FVN operating as VOZ1255 was forced to divert to Rockhampton after seemingly unsuccessfully trying to land at Emerald.  The morning Toll Freight Express Metro III operating as TFX110 from Biloela/Thangool also diverted to Rockhampton.

A Little later, QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 VH-QOJ operating as QLK2402 returned to Brisbane after also trying to land at Emerald.

Locally-based McPhee Medical Cessna 182 VH-TTP also tried to fly into Emerald Airport from Rockhampton on Friday 17 May but it is unclear whether it made a success landing or not.
