Military Exercise Talisman Saber 2013: United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III Depart from Rockhampton Airport

Local plane spotters enjoyed a great afternoon of big jet at Rockhampton Airport on Tuesday 9 July with the departure of the three United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft that arrived from overseas the previous day.

Earlier, Ben O and Don W captured some great photos of the big transport jets as they rested on the Rockhampton Airport apron - alongside some of the United States Navy (USN) Sikorsky HH-60H Seahawk helicopters that they brought in.

05-5143 and 05-5144 eventually departed in close succession for overseas - 05-5144 was captured as it taxied out for departure by Don W during his lunch break.

Later, the remaining C-17A 01-0187 departed Rockhampton again for overseas.  Travis W was at Rockhampton Airport and captured some lovely taxi photos.

Meanwhile, 'IAD' captured the departure of the giant transport from his favourite high vantage point near to the Airport.

My sincere thanks to the Rocky plane spotters for their continuing coverage of a great week of movements at Rockhampton Airport!  We can't wait for Exercise Talisman Saber to actually start next week!
