Military Exercise Talisman Saber 2013: More Photos of USAF C-17s and Omni Air International B767-300 N396AX at Rockhampton Airport Monday

Local plane spotter 'IAD' was keen to get to Rockhampton Airport on Monday 29 July to capture some images of the visiting Omni Air International Boeing B767-319(ER) N396AX.

As we posted below, the Omni B767 touched down late on Sunday 28 July from Kadena Air Force Base in Japan as "OAE518".

N396AX is a familiar aircraft to Australian skies, having flown for some time with Air New Zealand as ZK-NCH.

Word around Rockhampton Airport is that N396AX is set to stay parked at Rockhampton Airport for a few days!

Meanwhile, 'IAD' and fellow spotter Don W captured some more fantastic images on Monday 29 July of the two United States Air Force (USAF) Boeing C-17A Globemaster III transport aircraft that also arrived late on Sunday 28 July.

C-17A 05-5152 was first to arrive as "Trek 515".

While C-17A 90-0533 was second to touch down at Rockhampton as "Trek 516".

Both C-17's arrived from their home base of Hickam at Honolulu, Hawaii.  Both aircraft were expected to depart late on Monday 29 July.

Also spotted at Rockhampton Airport early on Monday 29 July was United States Navy (USN) Lockheed C-130T Hercules - serial 165314 - coded JW5314 - of the VR-62 Fleet Logistic Unit.

After arriving the previous evening, the USN C-130 was parked on Taxiway Juliette due to the crowded apron at Rockhampton Airport - which also had fellow USN Lockheed C-130T Hercules - serial 165160 - coded JW5160 - parked on the Northern military hardstand after breaking down on Saturday 27 July - see Blog posts below.

As these photos show, it certainly was a busy day at Rockhampton Airport!

My thanks to 'IAD' and Don for sending through these absolutely fantastic photos from Rockhampton Airport!  Simply an unparalleled coverage of Talisman Saber 2013 from Rockhampton Airport!  Thanks guys!
