Surveillance Australia / Australian Customs and Border Protection Service Dash-8-200 VH-ZZI Spotted at Gladstone Airport This Week

Local plane spotters Jamie C and Tash C send through a couple of lovely photos of an interesting visitor to the port city in the form of Surveillance Australia / Australian Customs and Border Protection Service Dash-8-200 VH-ZZI.

The Dash-8 arrived from parts unknown on Wednesday 2 October and remained parked on the Gladstone Airport apron overnight.

VH-ZZI departed – again for parts unknown – early on Thursday 3 October.

The Dash-8 is operated by Cobham Aviation and is one of a 13-strong fleet of fixed-wing surveillance aircraft, which are supported by several helicopters operating over the Northern half of Australia.

Certainly an unusual, but welcome visitor to Gladstone this week!
