Aerorescue (AMSA) Dornier 328-100 VH-PPG "Rescue 481" at Hervey Bay Airport

We mentioned in a post below that on Wednesday 15 April, there was a search for a missing crew member who fell of a boat near Fraser Island, and as a result, Aerorescue (AMSA - Australian Maritime Safety Authority) Dornier 328-100 VH-PPG was noted flying South from Cairns to participate in the search.

After a sortie of over six hours, VH-PPG ("Rescue 481") landed at Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport for fuel.  It then departed and was noted performed more searching before it is believed that VH-PPG landed on the Sunshine Coast for the night.

It returned to Cairns on Thursday.

Also on Wednesday 15 April, Austrek Aviation (of Toowoomba) Raytheon B300 Super King Air VH-JEA was noted around Hervey Bay and Maryborough, and given its history of aerial survey flights, it may have also been involved in the search.

Meanwhile, the previous day on Tuesday 14 April, another interesting visitor to Hervey Bay in the form of Careflight Queensland (Aeromed) LearJet 45 VH-CXJ called in from Brisbane.  VH-CXJ ("Ambulance 452") departed later to Townsville.

Some other light General Aviation (GA) aircraft to call into Hervey Bay over the last week have included Roma-based Beech 58 Baron VH-KGK on Sunday 12 April, FKG Air Hawker Beechcraft G58 Baron VH-FKI on Tuesday 14 April and locally-based Beech A36 Bonanza VH-KEY flew two return sectors to Noosa over the week.
