Another QLink B717 - An Extra Jetstar A320 - A Couple of Bizjets - All at Hamilton Island Airport

Hamilton Island Airport has again been a hive of activity over the last couple of days, including on the weekend when almost all the major Australian airlines operate flights to the heart of the Whitsundays from all over the Eastern Seaboard of Australia.  And on Saturday 19 September, QantasLink (Cobham Aviation) Boeing B717-200 VH-NXN operated another by the aircraft type on a scheduled service from and back to Brisbane as QJE1722/1723.

Loads on these services must be good as they are 'scheduled' to be flown by Dash-8-Q400 aircraft, and this is at least the fifth time in a month or so that the larger B717-200 jet has been utilised.

Also noted on Saturday 19 September was an additional Jetstar Airways Airbus A320 service from and back to Sydney.  VH-VGJ was noted operating as JST844/845.  The usual JST846/849 also operated into Hamo on Saturday 19 September and was flow by VH-VGR.

It is possible this extra service was to make up for a cancelled JST849 service from Hamilton Island to Sydney on Wednesday 16 September.  The aircraft - VH-VQW - was noted positioning back to Sydney empty early on Thursday 17 September as JST7981.

Finally, there have been a couple of bizjets to call into Hamilton Island over the last couple of days with Brenzil Dassault Falcon 7X VH-CRW touching down from Brisbane on Friday 18 September and Skypac Aviation Cessna 510 Citation Mustang VH-NEQ touching down from Bankstown and Cessnock on Saturday 19 September.  Both remain parked at Hamo.
