Making a very surprise and certainly most welcome visit to Rockhampton Airport on Wednesday 14 October was a pair of Australian Army Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopters - serials A15-151 and A15-201.
Both Chinooks - flown by the 5th Aviation Regiment out of Townsville - were heard to arrive from the North, and after taking on fuel, depart direct to RAAF Base Amberley using the radio callsign of "Brahman".
It is speculated that with the Army's 5th Aviation Regiment taking delivery of more Boeing CH-47F ‘Foxtrot’ Chinook helicopters that these two Chooks may be heading to retirement.
Sincere thanks to local plane spotter 'IAD' who was certainly at the right place at the right time at Rockhampton Airport!
