Skytrans Dash-8-100 VH-QQA Returns to Cairns via Roma Airport Friday - Plus JetGo E-135 VH-JGB Visits Roma Twice!

After being grounded at Chinchilla Airport since Wednesday 28 October when it was damaged in a massive hail storm, Skytrans Airlines Dash-8-100 VH-QQA has finally departed Chinchilla and returned to Cairns on Friday 20 November via Roma Airport.

VH-QQA completed the journey at an altitude of only 10,000 feet.  The significant damage to the aircraft occurred while it was parked at Chinchilla Airport when a massive 'super-cell' thunder storm dropped tennis-ball sized hail over the township.

It is currently unknown as to whether the aircraft will be repaired or if it will be written-off.

Meanwhile, JetGo Australia Embraer ERJ-135LR VH-JGB operated a pair of flights into Roma Airport, initially flying in from Sydney on Thursday 19 November and later departing to Brisbane.

VH-JGB then returned to Roma from Brisbane on Friday 20 November before departing back to Sydney.

Finally, as this post is being written, the Queensland Government Hawker 850XP bizjet VH-SGY is due to visit Roma Airport on Saturday 21 November.

The massive social event is that Roma Cup horse race meeting is being held on Saturday so I suspect that special guests have been flown into Roma on VH-JGB and VH-SGY for the races!
