And a Few Lighties Around Fraser Coast Airports This Week incl GAM Dornier 228 VH-VJD

Making a surprise arrival into the Fraser Coast on Tuesday 19 April while seemingly operating the weekday freight run from Brisbane, General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) Dornier DO 228-202 VH-VJD.

During the early morning, VH-VJD flew from Brisbane to Gayndah via Maryborough and Bundaberg.  During the evening, it returned to Brisbane from Gayndah, again flying via Bundaberg and Maryborough.  The GAM flight is usually operated by one of the their AeroCommander 500-S aircraft and by all indications, the visit by VH-VJD was a one-off!

Local plane spotter Micah S was on hand at Bundy and captured these great photos of the surprise visitor!

Meanwhile, it's been a busy few days recently at the three major Fraser Coast Airports with a wide variety of interesting light General Aviation (GA) aircraft visiting from all parts.

Also visiting Bundaberg Airport on Tuesday 19 April was Parkes (New South Wales) based AFS Charter Piper PA-31 VH-CYV which touched down from Bankstown and Bathurst.  It was the Navajo's second visit to the rum city in a week.  VH-CYV later departed to Archerfield before returning to Bathurst and Bankstown.  Alpha Aviation (of Sydney) Piper PA-32R-301 VH-OAZ was also visiting Bundy from Bankstown on Tuesday 19 April.

On Monday 18 April, Seair Pacific / Istlecote Cessna 208 Caravan VH-CRN flew from the Gold Coast to Bundaberg Airport, while Vanderfield Pilatus PC-12/47 corporate turbo-prop VH-WPH also called into Bundy on Monday, staying over night and departing to Mackay on Tuesday 19 April.

Seair Caravans VH-LYT, VH-OZH and VH-LMZ also called into the Fraser Coast over the previous weekend on various flights.  On Saturday 16 April, VH-LYT flew into Hervey Bay Airport from Lady Eilliot Island while VH-OZH flew into Bundaberg Airport from Lady Elliot Island before it then departed to Rockampton.  VH-OZH departed Rocky for Hervey Bay on Monday 18 April.  Finally, on Sunday 17 April, VH-LMZ operated a weekend Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) flight from Hervey Bay to Maryborough and Wanella Station near Coppabella.  It then returned to Hervey Bay.

Finally, several other interesting lighties have been noted passing through Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) Airport with smart little Amateur Built Express S-2000VH-MWD arriving direct from Bankstown on Saturday 16 April.  On Sunday 17 April, Vanguard Aviation Cessna 340A VH-DRA visited from Redcliffe.  On Monday 18 April, Air Gold Coast Cessna 172 VH-OMU visited from the Gold Coast, Cirrus SR20 VH-DRK visited from Archerfield, and Nixon Communications Cessna 210 VH-NCG visited from Gladstone.

On Tuesday 19 April, Cirrus Sunshine Coast SR22 VH-FBT visited from Caloundra, Brisbane Helicopters Bell 206B VH-EAN visited from Archerfield, Australian Wings Academy Diamond DA40-D VH-YHL visited from its Gold Coast base, and Cessna 172 VH-MOW arrived from the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport.
