Good news late last week with the Barcaldine Regional Council re-opening the main Runway 01/19 following the completion of recent sweeping and re-surfacing work.
And it appears that the three-times-a-week QantasLink flights into Barcaldine Airport have been re-instated with the Dash-8-Q400 QLK2352 service from Brisbane and onto Longreach Airport scheduled to call in on Tuesday 9 August.
UPDATE! On Tuesday 9 August, QantasLink Dash-8-Q400 Next Gen VH-LQG operated the QLK2532/2533 service from Brisbane to Barcaldine and Longreach before returning to Brisbane.
The Council had organised a bus to transport passengers from Barcaldine to Longreach to meet their QantasLink flights each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, an interesting aircraft to visit Barcaldine Airport on Monday 8 August was Hinterland Aviation Beech B200 King Air VH-HLJ which arrived from and later departed back to its Cairns base as HND663 "Hinterland 663".
And its worth mentioning that since Monday 25 July, General Aviation Maintenance (GAM) AeroCommander 500-S VH-MEH has been operating through Barcaldine Airport in the morning and afternoon on each week day as it operates from Emerald to Longreach Airport and back via Barcaldine.
