REPOSTED! Former Rockhampton Based Cessna 550 Citation II Bizjet VH-JMK Pops up in Papua New Guinea as P2-MRM

With thanks to a reader of the CQ Plane Spotting Blog comes news of the fate of one of Central Queensland's long-time resident corporate bizjets.

Former Rockhampton based Cessna 550 Citation II bizjet VH-JMK (Constructor's Number 550-0289) has recently been noted flying in Papua New Guinea (PNG) as P2-MRM. In fact, P2-MRM recently completed a flight from its now Port Moresby base to Cairns and back over the weekend of Saturday 10 December and Sunday 11 December.

UPDATE!  P2-MRM was photographed at Cairns Airport by the fantastic Far North Queensland Skies Blog on Sunday 5 March 2017 after it arrived from Port Moresby two days earlier.

Of interest, VH-JMK was originally registered to J. M. Kelly (Project Builders) in Rockhampton in July 2005 after being imported into Australia via the Sunshine Coast as C-FTMS. In August 2013, it was temporarily exported to PNG and took up the registration marking P2-JMK reportedly to satisfy a statutory requirement while the aircraft operated predominantly up there. It returned to the Australian register again as VH-JMK in August 2014 until being exported from Australia via Cairns and removed from the Australian register in October 2016.

It's also worth noting that another familiar Australian-based bizjet (particularly to Rockhampton Airport) has also recently departed Australia for good. Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 bizjet VH-EVJ, which was operated by Execujet Australia for Tower Holdings in Sydney, has been sold in the USA and left Australia in via Sydney for Nadi and further ports on delivery to a new owner.

VH-EVJ was cancelled from the Australian register in August and became N135D to an operator in Delaware in the USA.
